Be the Gospel
Note: Today’s New Testament reading is Galatians 6. We start Ephesians tomorrow, and you get a special treat! My sister Amanda has written tomorrows devotion for you.
Paul spends chapters 1-5 of Galatians calling the church at Galatia to embrace the gospel. In light of their embrace of the gospel, he calls them to be the gospel to one another.
“Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted. 2 Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ”
– Galatians 6:1–2 ESV
Christian’s are people who recognize our brokenness. We admit that while today it may be you “caught in a transgression,” tomorrow it may be me. So together as a community we represent Christ to each other. We reveal the gospel within our community by bearing burdens that were not ours to help bring about redemption in others lives.
Living life in the Spirit is not an individual effort. It is a community one. In the gospel, admit your frailty and depend on your brothers and sisters. And in the gospel, have grace towards your brothers and sisters who struggle. Extend them restoring grace.
PS Sorry for the late post. Hotel wifi struggles. As penance, here is a beautiful picture 🙂
